Tree Size: 30-40 m tall, the trunk can have a diameter of up to 180cm

Color/Appearance: Beautiful golden yellow sometimes brown veined heartwood with a remarkable shine. Untreated, the wood will turn gray somewhat over time. The yellow-brown heartwood becomes darker during the drying process and feels somewhat greasy. Furthermore, there is little wood drawing to be found, but the growth rings are clearly visible.
Rot Resistance: Orelha de Macaco is rated as being very durable in regards to rot resistance, and is also resistant to termites and most other insects.
Workability: easy to work with, although due to its hardness, pre-drilling is certainly necessary.
Common Uses: sleeper joists for terraces.
